The Impact of Syrian Migration on Unemployment: Evidence from Turkey

This study examines the labor market effects of influx Syrian refugees in Turkey. Engle-Granger and Johansen co-integration tests, followed by autoregressive distributive lag (ARDL) bounds tests reveal that Turkish unemployment refugee series are co-integrated; pointing out to a long-run relationship. Short-run dynamics have been analyzed from fitted ARDL model error-correction parameter is used examine speed convergence. Dynamic OLS (DOLS), fully modified least squares (FM-OLS) canonical co-integrating regression (CCR) estimations make inference on parameters. Empirical results show there significant negative relation between level Turkey number long-run, indicating had reducing effect numbers Our suggest acted as complementary force existing force.
